Bringing Primary Healthcare to Women Where They Are

The Women's Mobile Primary Care (WMPC) program is an innovative, Indigenous-led mobile healthcare program operated by Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society (VAHS).

WMPC delivers low-barrier primary healthcare directly into the community, providing integrated medical, social, and cultural support for women and gender-diverse individuals experiencing barriers to accessing traditional healthcare.

By meeting people where they are, we help remove barriers, build trusting relationships, and improve long-term health and wellness.

Our Philosophy of Care

Our work is grounded in Two-Eyed Seeing (Etuaptmumk), a guiding principle that honours the strengths of both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing.

Our interdisciplinary team integrates evidence-based healthcare with Indigenous approaches to healing, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and cultural wellbeing.

Every individual is welcomed with dignity, compassion, respect, and cultural humility. We strive to create safe, inclusive spaces where people feel heard, empowered, and supported throughout their healthcare journey.

Beyond clinical care, we recognize that improving health often means addressing housing, food security, income, cultural connection, social inclusion, and access to community resources.

WMPC supports women and gender-diverse individuals who may experience barriers to accessing traditional healthcare services.
