Family Support Worker Program
The Family Support Worker (FSW) Program offers educational and cultural programs to foster a strong and healthy family unit.
The FSW Program is available to families with children ages 0-18.
Working with the Ministry of Children & Family Development and the Vancouver Aboriginal Child and Family Services, the FSW Program connects families to community resources and culture
The Family Support Worker Program supports Indigenous families with children through:
- Linking families to community-based activities/services
- Providing holistic spiritual, emotional, mental and physical support
- Empowering parents by using a strength-based approach
- Guiding families to learn new life skills
- Delivering training and educational programs such as Bringing Tradition Home, Nobody’s Perfect Parenting and My Tween and Me
- Offering Traditional programs such as Seven Sacred Teachings, Medicine Wheel Theory, Dream Catchers weaving and Crafts, Medicine Bag sewing and Moccasin making
- Accompany parents to mediations and court proceedings and offer documentation to MCFD and other agencies
- Assist with and support family reunification
